What Is Causing Heart Attacks And Strokes Besides Bad Cholesterol?

There is something else besides cholesterol that is causing heart attacks and strokes. Do you know what is it?

In a book written by Dr Ray Strand, “What Your Doctor Doesn’t Know About Nutritional Medicine May Be Killing You”, there is an estimation that a high level of homocysteine in the blood is accountable for around 15 percent of the heart attacks and strokes that are happening in the world today.

What Is Homocysteine?

It is actually an intermediate by product that is produced when we break down an essential amino acid called methionin, that is found in huge quantities in our daily food intake like eggs, meat, cheese, canned foods, fresh milk, flour and those processed foods as well.

Methionine is needed by our body to survive and it is normally converting homocysteine into cysteine or back to methionine. Both cysteine and methionine are harmless products and does not harm our health in any way but here is the problem: there are a certain type of enzymes that is needed to break down homocysteine into cysteine or back to methionine to do the necessary job.

If we are not taking enough of these nutrients, the homocysteine levels in the blood will start to increase. However, being different from cholesterol that is needed by our body for the production of hormones and certain cell parts, homocysteine does not gives any health benefits at all. The higher the level of homocysteine, there will be a great risk of getting cardiovascular disease and in contrast, the lower the homocysteine level is, the better it is for our body.

Have you checked on your levels of homocysteine and if you have not, can I encourages you to do it as the cost is less than $100 and have it checked so that you too can have a peace of mind.
